An afternoon with T. Anders Carson and Gene Bassett

Anders is a people's poet with Canadian and Swedish roots, he has been published in 37 countries including translations into French, Greek, Japanese and Swedish. Has has written 4 books of poetry of family, odd slices of life and the place of where we can be as people.....
Gene, a well known local short story writer, has written 3 books his latest being Saga to Raga. He write from the heart with compelling , thought-provoking stories of common lives lived unconventionally...

It's that time of the year again!
Christmas will be here soon enough, and it's time to start thinking about shopping ... Saturday November 30th Perth BIA kicks it all off with the 5th annual VIP Shopping Event, starting at 10am be the first to pick up a swag bag full of coupons, discounts, contests and more from your favourite downtown businesses! Many stores in town will have in-store promotions, sales, free stuff...
John McKenty will be at The Perth Museum signing his new book, "The Life and Times of Joe Perkins". This great new book is the history of the Perkins building on Wilson St. W. and Joe Perkins.

We will be hosting a launch of John's new book on Saturday November 23rd starting at 10am in the Perkins Building 2 Wilson St. W. Come take a look around the building, talk to the author and the artist Craig Campbell, who's print of the building is on the front cover. Craig will also have prints for sale and on display.Cash only at the Perkins building $20.

Great Video of Perth, Westport and local area
A wonderful tourist visiting the area the summer 0f 2016, put together a great vlog of footage of Perth and area. It starts in Brockville and heads NE to Bob's Lake, Perth and Westport. He visits many of the businesses in Perth, chats with owners and showcases their products, The Bookworm is around the 17 min. mark.

Festival of Good Cheer 2016
Come out this Saturday November 26th to Perth's annual Festival of Good Cheer as the kick off the Christmas season! Start at the Crystal Palace to pick up your gift bag full of coupons, flyers, etc. Then shop at the many stores in town offering sales, music, snacks, etc.
The Bookworm will have our many sales for Christmas, with our Christmas table with all new titles at a discounted price, free coffee and cookies, and a free gift with purchase!

A great time was had by all on May 21st 2016 as Perth hosted the Provincial Town Crier Championship of Ontario. Each Crier had a local business to "cry" out as as promotional gesture, and part of the judging based on humour, wit and content. Crier Mark Molnar from the City of St. Catharines and the Town of Lincoln, represented The Bookworm.
SPRING IS HERE!

The garden is getting ready to plant, time to clean up the garage, etc. We have lots of great gardening books to inspire you, books about cleaning with environmentally friendly products, and much more. Saturday April 30th is the Festival of the Maples in Perth. The full line up of activities are here:
Saturday April 30th is also Authors for Indies!
Authors for Indies is a Canadian idea started three years ago, to get smaller independant bookstores recognized. Authors sign up to "work" at a store for a few hours, meet customers, recommend books and have fun!
The Bookworm will have their entire collection of local history and authors for sale, in support of the many local authors in the Perth area, and there are many! So, please come out, and browse local history and local authors in support of Perth's 200th anniversary celebrations this year, with many, many other activities going on all summer.
Please note that we will be open every day until Christmas Eve for all your shopping needs!

Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday for the Festival of Good Cheer, and Shop the Neighbourhood.
The weather was cold, but clear and bright. Thank you to the locals and tourists and all visitors who came for the day. We hope for a busy December as the Christmas season is coming along very quickly. Spend $25. or more and receive a beautiful ceramic Christmas mug, great for tea or hot chocolate while reading a great book by your favorite author!

Local authors had a very sucessful Saturday morning at the Crystal Palace during the Farmers Market. Authors Gene Bassett, Arlene Stafford-Wilson and others, had a great turnout to promote and sell their books and chat with customers.
